What is this website?

LetterNow is a privacy-first web application for generating beautifully typeset letters directly in your browser. By default, it perfectly formats your text into the standard DIN 5008 Type B letter layout, widely used for formal and business correspondence in Germany and Europe.

How does it do that?

The fastest way to write a formal letter.

Under the hood, LetterNow is inspired by the amazing brief.jetzt. It is powered by Typst, a modern, lightning-fast typesetting system (an alternative to LaTeX). We use a WebAssembly (Wasm) port of the Typst compiler (wasm-typst) and the excellent letter-pro package. This means the entire compilation process—turning your text into an SVG preview and a final PDF—runs entirely locally inside your browser's JavaScript engine.

Privacy by Design

This website was built with absolute privacy in mind. Because the application relies on WebAssembly to process the PDF document directly on your device, we do not collect, transmit, or store any of the personal information you type into the editor.

GDPR Compliance

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act solely as a provider of a static web application.

• We do not have a backend server that receives your form inputs.
• We do not use cookies or tracking scripts.
• We do not use analytics tools to monitor your behavior.
• If you load local system fonts, the browser will ask for permission, but those font files remain strictly on your machine.

External Assets

When you load this page, your browser downloads static files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WebAssembly, and optional Web Fonts). These are served directly, and standard server access logs (like IP addresses) may be kept temporarily by our hosting provider strictly for security and operational purposes.
